MD-441 M/S Switch (High-Pass / Bass Adjuster)
The curve of the multi-position M to S switch in the user manual of the MD-441 looks like a 100Hz-bell-filter but the measurements show the results of a high-pass/low-cut-filter and also the manual describes it as a roll-off-filter. “M” is unfiltered (all the bass gets through) and all the way to “S” rolls off the most low end:
The idea, presumably, was that someone talking into the mic from close up would tend to get too boomy, due to proximity effect increasing the bass; S was for “speech.”
